Cindy Kung Memorial Award for Women in Health Information Science

Cindy P. Kung (1970 – 2021) was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated with a BSc in occupational therapy from the University of Alberta in 1997. She soon fell in love with the people and places on the West coast, and she spent most of the next decade living and practising in 51³Ô¹Ï, Vancouver, and Seattle. In 2005 she entered the field of Health Informatics, where she combined her healthcare background with her training and interests in Information Technology.

Cindy valued education, lifelong learning, and curiosity. She dedicated her professional career to improving the health and well-being of others. This award is meant to encourage other women to pursue undergraduate studies in Healthcare Information Science, and to gain the skills and knowledge needed to help build a strong health care system.
