Deanna Carter Biochemistry Scholarship

Born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, Deanna Carter was a graduate in medical laboratory technology from St Josephs Hospital in 51³Ô¹Ï in 1958. Deanna was the top graduate in her class. She was a brilliant academic and dutiful wife and mother, having raised three sons. Deanna played a major role in her sons’ academic careers and believed in education as a path to success and fulfillment. She was proud of every academic achievement of her children and grandchildren and had a particular love for science and biochemistry throughout her lifetime.

Deanna was intelligent, an avid reader, and crossword aficionado who loved baseball, Disneyland, and time with family. Deanna passed away in June of 2021 and her family hopes her passion for education and her legacy of academic excellence will continue through this award.
