Elizabeth Buckley School Award
Elizabeth Buckley School was originally founded in 1987 by Nancy Bourey, a teacher and speech-language pathologist, as a school for the deaf and hard of hearing in 51³Ô¹Ï. The name Elizabeth Buckley was chosen to honour Bourey's grandmother, an inspirational teacher in New York. Over the years, Elizabeth Buckley School grew and changed into a STEAM school (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics).
By 2018, Elizabeth Buckley School served a much more diverse student population. The classrooms were nurturing environments where all students, from gifted to those with diverse abilities, learned side by side in an inclusive setting. It was a hidden gem. Unfortunately, the school had to close so this fund is being established to canyon the school's legacy.
