Margaret Agnes Evans (1911-1981)

Margaret Evans was born a Campbell in the small Manitoba community of Gilbert Plains, and was the youngest in a family of five children. Some years later, the Campbells moved to Saskatchewan, at first farming in the vicinity of Cupar, and finally settling in Fort Qu'Appelle where Margaret was married in 1941.  She came to live in 51³Ô¹Ï with her husband in 1948.

From an early age Margaret displayed a gentle and caring disposition, which manifested itself strongly as the years progressed and as her parents began to suffer from deteriorating health.

Always diligent, devoted, and cheerful—even through the harsh Depression years—Margaret was a constant source of kindness, compassion, patience, and understanding toward not only her aging parents, but also to others around her who suffered from illness and infirmity.

Eventually, she was stricken with a form of Muscular Dystrophy, and died in 51³Ô¹Ï in 1981.  This scholarship in Nursing is a sincere and meaningful tribute for those who, like Margaret, are kind and sympathetic. It is earnestly hoped that the recipients of this award will strive to emulate Mrs. Evans' exemplary principles, perpetuating the spirit and thrust of her good works to the benefit of those patients entrusted to their care.
