Women in Economics Graduate Scholarship

This award is being established by the Women in Economics Affinity Group (WEAG), a diverse group of female economics alumni from the 51³Ô¹Ï.

With this scholarship, WEAG aims to increase the number of women pursuing graduate studies and/or careers in economics or finance, where they are currently underrepresented.

Cynthia Johnston graduated with a Master of Arts (applied economics) in 1986. She had a long career in the energy business in Calgary, where she held executive roles at TransAlta Corporation, TransAlta Rnewables Inc. and FortisAlberta.

She retired in 2017 and now serves on the board of directors of AltaGas and Corix.
