Global engagement

The Office of Global Engagement (OGE) develops and promotes global partnerships that advance UVic's strategic goals for internationalization, which includes:

Providing support to UVic faculty and staff in furthering their international activities
Coordinating international partnerships, projects and programs that enhance UVic's diverse intercultural and global environment
Organizing and hosting international delegations

Global Engagement Strategy

The Office of Global Engagement has the mandate to support the implementation of the University´s Global Engagement Strategy 2023-2028, which highlights the priorities for the next 5 years to become a truly global institution.

June highlights

Delegation from the University of Liverpool

On June 3, representatives from the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Liverpool visited UVic and met with different units across campus to explore potential academic and research partnerships. Thank you to everyone from our Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Office of VP Research & Innovation, Centre for Asia-Pacific Initiatives, and Centre for Global Studies who participated in the meetings. We look forward to continuing our discussions about collaborations with the University of Liverpool.

Delegation from Mexican universities

On June 19, OGE was pleased to welcome a delegation of representatives from universities in Mexico. The delegates were from Universidad Iberoamericana, Universidad de Monterrey, Universidad Panamericana, and the Trade Commissioner and Academic Affairs Office in the Embassy of Canada in Mexico. The visitors enjoyed touring our beautiful campus and engaging in conversations with colleagues from the Division of Continuing Studies, Office of VP Research and Innovation, Gustavson School of Business and the Innovation Centre.

Summer Social for Mitacs GRI Interns

July 13

OGE is planning to host a meet & greet with the Mitacs GRI interns. This summer, UVic will host almost 40 interns from institutions in Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong SAR, Mexico, Pakistan, South Korea, Tunisia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

Staff exchange - FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences

July 21-25

A representative from FH Joanneum University of Applied Sciences in Austria, will visit UVic and meet with different units across campus as part of the Erasmus staff mobility program.
