About Liz Williams

Liz Williams is a PhD candidate in Environmental Psychology at the 51³Ô¹Ï. Her research focuses on relationships between humans and other species, broadly and in the context of wildlife conservation and trade, pet-keeping, and ecotourism. She draws on social psychological theories to examine inter-group relationships between species (e.g., speciesism), as well as perceptions of environmentalists and pro-environmental behaviour in human communities. She also works on issues pertaining to companion grief, ecological grief and climate anxiety.

Liz has volunteered at the BC SPCA, working with rescue dogs and coordinating volunteers. Liz holds a BA Honours degree in Psychology from the University of Winnipeg, and a MSc in Resource Management and Environmental Studies from the University of British Columbia, and a graduate teaching certificate from the 51³Ô¹Ï.
