Faculty bio

My research focuses on the development of executive function (i.e., higher order cognitive skills involved in problem solving), the development of embodied cognition and the effects of electronic media on children’s development.

My research on executive function examines the contribution of social-communicative skills (e.g., conversation, narrative, sociodramatic play) to the development of executive function skills in preschoolers. My research on embodied cognition investigates the reciprocal relation between sensorimotor processes and conceptual development in school-aged children.

I am also interested in and conduct research on the effects of electronic media on a variety of different developmental and health outcomes.
